Possible Complications in Root Canal Treatment
Root canal complication cannot be avoided because when the root or the dental canal is opened for treatment, the oxygen in the air will initiate some bacteria to start growing causing the tooth to become inflamed and painful. There are some dental canals that after a month the patient still feel discomfort or even pain due to leakage, the canal was not fully filled with a filling materials. Other complication during root canal treatment is vertical root fracture during dental filling procedure and root resorption.
A research conducted showed that a high percentage of chronic degenerative diseases originate from root-filled teeth. Most frequent were heart and circulatory diseases. The next most common diseases were those of the joints, arthritis and rheumatism and then followed closely were diseases of the brain and nervous system. The research further states that germs from a central focal infection such as teeth, teeth roots, inflamed gum tissues metastasize to hearts, eyes, lungs, kidneys, or other organs, glands and tissues, establishing new areas of the same infection believing that root canal filling can and does leak and bacteria do invade the structure.
It is better that everything, including dental surgical instruments, be prepared properly from the very start of the dental treatment to avoid dental complications. Sometimes a simple complication derived from contaminated dental surgical instruments will lead to severe complication and become a big problem to the dentist and the patient. When it comes to the health of the patient, the dentist should consider the patient’s safety because they come to a professional dentist in order to have good quality dental service. Gaining the trust of the dental patient is very hard to accomplish because when the patient hear the word dentist the first thing that comes in their mind is pain. So once the dentist gains the trust of the patient, he should continue to educate them and handle them with care by always giving them the best dental treatment and using the latest dental surgical instruments and equipments that are always sterilized and safe to use.
